About the profession: 

Freight forwarding clerks organise and monitor the transport of goods of all kinds. They plan the shipment of goods, select the appropriate means of transport (e.g. lorry, ship, plane or train) and draw up the necessary freight documents. They ensure that the goods arrive at their destination safely and on time.

Another important area of responsibility is advising customers. Freight forwarders provide information on various transport options, prepare quotations and calculate the costs. They assist customers throughout the entire transport process and communicate with the service providers involved, such as transport companies or warehouses.

For international transport, forwarding agents also take care of customs clearance. They prepare the necessary documents and ensure that all legal requirements are met. If problems or delays occur during transport, they quickly develop solutions and ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Freight forwarders are also responsible for monitoring the transport. They track the route of the goods and intervene if unexpected incidents such as traffic jams, bad weather or technical faults occur. In the event of damage or loss, they process damage reports and take care of settlements with insurance companies.

In their day-to-day work, freight forwarders work closely with various departments and external partners. They coordinate processes to ensure that supply chains function efficiently and goods are delivered on time. Through their planning and organisation, they make a significant contribution to ensuring that the logistical processes in national and international trade run smoothly.

Apprenticeship:

As part of our team, you will learn everything from scratch that you can later apply in many areas of work: We will prepare you organisationally and administratively for your work in warehouse management, bookkeeping, accounting, purchasing or human resources as well as in order processing. Your basic skills are needed in many areas of the company!
